More than 17,000 Pro-Life Christians in Louisiana Support Strong Methane Standards
As Christians, we believe God desires for us to live life to the fullest (John 10:10); therefore, we are passionate about defending the health and wellbeing of all of God’s children.
The oil and gas industry leaks methane, along with other toxic pollutants and cancer-causing agents like benzene, into our air and water at alarming rates. These pollutants have negative health impacts on those who live, work, go to school, and play nearby, and have a disproportionately strong effect on life in the womb. For those near oil and gas production sites, emissions have been linked to birth defects, preterm births, and low-birth-weight babies, who are at greater risk of infant mortality, ADHD, asthma, and more, making cutting methane pollution truly a matter of life.

Nearly 33,000 Christians Support Pennsylvania Amending its Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard
Yesterday, EEN Action–the 501(c)(4) partner of the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN)–delivered nearly 33,000 comments from pro-life Christians in Pennsylvania to Governor Shapiro’s team in support of Pennsylvania amending its Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard (AEPS).
The PA legislature should take heed of these conservative Christian voices and quickly move forward with considering Governor Shapiro's new energy plan, including the Pennsylvania Reliable Energy Sustainability Standard (PRESS) to the commonwealth, which updates Pennsylvania’s Tier I renewable energy diversification goal from 8% to 35% by 2035 and has now been introduced as HB 2277 and SB 1190.

EEN Action Thanks Governor Shapiro for Advancing Policies that will Bring Clean Energy to Pennsylvania
On March 13, 2024, Governor Josh Shapiro announced the introduction of the Pennsylvania Climate Emissions Reduction (PACER) Act, a new cap-and-trade program, and the Pennsylvania Reliable Energy Sustainability Standard (PRESS), an expansion of the alternative energy portfolio standard. Together, the PACER Act and PRESS will increase clean, reliable, and pollution-free energy coming onto the Commonwealth’s grid. By reducing harmful air pollutants and carbon emissions, these two new initiatives will defend the health of our children by providing clean air and water while reliably meeting rising energy demands with a modern, diversified grid.

EEN Action Applauds Governor Shapiro Taking Steps Toward Pennsylvania’s Clean Energy Future
We at EEN Action and our partner, the Evangelical Environmental Network, thank Governor Shapiro for taking the important step in moving toward a safe and healthy future for all generations by appealing the lower commonwealth court’s decision regarding the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). In Mark 12, the Bible tells us to “love your neighbor as yourself.” This decision allows us to care for the health and wellbeing of our neighbors throughout the commonwealth, especially our children.

We Must Put Pennsylvanians and God’s Creation Above Special Interests
Today, a lower commonwealth court dealt a setback to Pennsylvania’s fight to defend our children from the deadly threats of fossil fuel pollution and vector-borne diseases like Lyme Disease, create new family-empowering careers, and address climate change. The court ruled against the state's CO2 Budget Trading Program and its membership in the successful fair market-based Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). We urge Governor Josh Shapiro and the state Department of Environmental Protection to appeal this misguided ruling and put Pennsylvanians and God’s creation above special interests.

EEN Action Delivers Over 51,000 Signatures to PA Governor Shapiro in Support of RGGI
Today EEN Action delivered over 51,000 comments from evangelical Christians to Governor Shapiro’s team in support of Pennsylvania reaffirming its commitment to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). These comments are in addition to the more than 30,000 comments from individual pro-life Christians collected by EEN supporting former Governor Wolf’s RGGI rulemaking in 2021. These new comments clearly demonstrate how backing for RGGI has only grown over the past two years, with evangelicals throughout Pennsylvania strongly in favor of the ways RGGI will benefit their commonwealth, from creating thousands of family-sustaining jobs to ensuring a safe and healthy future for generations to come.
